RYAT (Christina Mattei) is an Italian American interdisciplinary artist, researcher, composer, music producer, and spatial mixer whose work exists at the intersection of sound, technology, sculpture, installation and performance. Her research and practice focus on pluriversal design, equitable ecologies, examining quantum entanglement, somatic intra-action, and earthly cosmotechnics and ethical AI. With a 25-year career expanding live audio-visual environments, she has utilized Ableton Live since 2006 to build real-time interactive systems, leading to releases on electronic imprints Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune, global tours, and site-specific performances.

Selected commissions, exhibitions, and residencies include projects for (upcoming) Operator with The Whitney Museum and (past) the House of Art in London (debut in Turkey at Soho House - Repeat As Necessary) Her work has been featured with a live orchestral with live performances with The Echo Society Film Collective and a full chamber orchestra in Los Angeles, and her. solo work and collaboration have taken place in many mediums and forms including, Solo Exhibitions - Glamorizing the Unglamorous (Moksa Gallery), the interactive installation Lumen (Mack Sennett Studios), the VR project The Dark Spring (Fembit Festival), and Altmode (NYC Parks SummerStage). Additional notable works include live scoring commissions for Native Instruments at NeueHouse (alongside Drums and Lace, Ian Hilquest, and Xander Singh), immersive sound collaborations with Myles Ortiz-Green, and artistic research residencies at UCLA, Ojai, and The Rattle UK.

Grounded in the improvisational methodologies of jazz and the intuitive channeling of the creator, her practice serves as a philosophical manifesto against the corporate dilution of the arts. Central to her current work is the creation of audio-visual interactive sculpture that interrogates the complexities of the soul through physical-digital mediums. As the founder of Sustain Studios, she provides a critical framework for interdisciplinary creators, emphasizing ethical, non-generative AI and embodied, off-grid technologies. This academic and somatic approach ultimately serves to preserve the primacy of human expression.

Dedicated to artistic research and higher education, she served on the faculty at the University of the Arts and taught online at Berklee College of Music for 8 years.
